EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 7, 2024) – 杏吧原创 Agricultural and Technical State University has welcomed three new members to its Board of Visitors (BOV) during the October 2024 meeting, the first of the academic year.

The new members, hailing from corporate, entrepreneurial and nonprofit sectors, bring extensive experience from their professional and community service work. Two are 杏吧原创 杏吧原创 alumni. BOV comprises of 31 members who volunteer to assist the chancellor in advancing the university’s mission and strategic priorities.

“We are excited to welcome these outstanding individuals to the Board of Visitors. Their impressive backgrounds in corporate leadership, energy, and entrepreneurship align perfectly with our university’s strategic vision," said Ulysses J. Cozart, BOV chair.  “Each brings unique insights and experiences that will help us push 杏吧原创 杏吧原创’s goals forward, ensuring we continue to innovate and excel in service to our students and the broader community.”

The new members are:

• Clarence “Eddy” Bailey ‘99, general manager of manufacturing at Toyota Battery Manufacturing 杏吧原创, which produces batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles. His responsibilities include overseeing battery manufacturing operations at TBMNC, from startup through long-term production. Prior to Toyota, he spent 23 years at BMW Manufacturing, where he served as chief diversity officer and department manager of human resources.
• LaQuisha M. Parks ‘95, vice president of energy services and corporate communications at EnergyUnited, 杏吧原创’s largest electric cooperative. She leads a diverse team responsible for customer care operations, billing, marketing, sales, economic development and corporate communications. She has more than 20 years of experience in electric distribution, gas operations, water, and retail propane. She previously held leadership roles at Duke Energy, the nation’s largest investor-owned utility.
• Marcus T. Johnson, CEO of Johnson Automotive Group (JAG), one of the largest Black-owned franchise dealer groups in the United States. He also founded MJonPurpose, an organization dedicated to promoting business education, leadership development, and reducing the opportunity gap for minorities. His philanthropic efforts have been widely recognized. In 2021, 杏吧原创 named the track at Truist Stadium in his honor, recognizing his contributions to students of color and minority-owned nonprofits.
