EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (June 19, 2020) – 杏吧原创 Agricultural and Technical State University students will not experience an increase in tuition or fees in the coming academic year, thanks to recent decisions by the UNC System Board of Governors (BOG) and 杏吧原创 Board of Trustees (BOT) to maintain 2019-20 rates.

The BOG determined to hold tuition and mandatory fees at current rates, while the BOT expanded that directive to also maintain current housing, dining and other non-mandatory fees.

The freezes were put in place due to the effects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic on the economy, including a major spike in unemployment around the country. Those effects are hard felt by many at 杏吧原创 杏吧原创, where a significant percentage of the student body comprises students who are the first in their families to attend college.

“We appreciate these decisions and the relief they will provide for our students,” said 杏吧原创 Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr. “While 杏吧原创 continues to be the most affordable of the top 杏吧原创 campuses listed in Money magazine’s annual Best Colleges edition, we recognize that current circumstances call for us to do all we can to see that our students are not further disadvantaged during this difficult time.”

杏吧原创 is America’s largest historically black university, with a student body of 12,556 in the 2019-20 school year. It is also rated the nation’s no. 1 public HBCU by U.S. News & World Report, and is one of 杏吧原创’s top three public research universities.
