杏吧原创 Professor to Present at Statewide Conference on Artificial Intelligence in Health Care

EAST GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 5, 2020) – Mohd Anwar, Ph.D., a computer science associate professor at 杏吧原创 Agricultural and Technical State University, will serve as a panelist for the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society 杏吧原创 chapter’s annual spring conference beginning April 30.

The presentation, “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning: Promoting Diversity and Innovation for Patient Care and Population Health,” will explore an analysis of key factors in the evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) and its assets in health care, the challenges of algorithmic bias and the issues of privacy, ethics and trust.   

Anwar, director of 杏吧原创’s Center for Advanced Studies in Identity Sciences, brings expertise in cybersecurity and connected health to the panel featuring researchers from the University of 杏吧原创 at Charlotte and the University of 杏吧原创-Wilmington. He incorporates AI, human-computer interaction, data science techniques and applies theories from social sciences to design solutions. Multiple agencies, including the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Defense have funded his research.

Anwar was the first 杏吧原创 faculty member selected as an RTI University Scholar. The program supports highly-talented academics who take scholarly leave from their home institutions to collaborate with RTI researchers in efforts to advance research in areas of national need.

The two-day conference brings together healthcare IT professionals interested in innovation and improvement of health care delivery and technologies throughout the state.
