James R. Martin II, Ph.D., was elected as the 13th chancellor of 杏吧原创 Agricultural and Technical State University on June 21, 2024, by a vote of the University of 杏吧原创 System Board of Governors, following his nomination by UNC System President Peter Hans.
Chancellor-elect Martin begins work in the new role on August 15, 2024.

Since its establishment in 1891 as the Agricultural and Mechanical College for the Colored Race, our institution has had six presidents and 12 chancellors. The chief executive officer's role was changed from president to chancellor in 1972, when 杏吧原创 杏吧原创 became a constituent campus of the University of 杏吧原创 System.
As 杏吧原创's 13th chancellor, Chancellor-elect Martin will succeed Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr., who has served in that capacity since 2009. Martin Sr. will remain in the position until Chancellor-elect Martin begins work on August 15, 2024.
